COMMUNITY INPUT NEEDED FOR ADDISON/KIMBALL RESIDENTIAL PLAN

At the Irving Park Neighbors Association's (IPNA) March 7th
community meeting, Rezmar Development will present their plans for 164
townhomes and a 2 acre park at the Addison and Kimball site that has been
vacant for 8 years and recently purchased by Addison Ventures, L.L.C.,
previously owned by International Paper.   After both a Home Depot and a St.
Vincent De Paul Day Care Center development proposals were made and rejected.
IPNA took a door-to-door survey of the neighborhood and found that a
majority of residents were in favor of a non-industrial and non-commercial
developments at Addison and Kimball.  In the November 7, 2000, election, an
advisory  referendum the was placed on the ballot in five precincts that
surround the vacant site requesting a zoning change.  Over 90% of the voters
were indeed in favor of non-industrial and non-commercial developments such
as a public school, public library, senior citizen center, nature center, or
residential housing at the site.  Under Rezmar's proposal, the
residential development at Addison and Kimball would require an R4  zoning.
Most of the surrounding residential areas are currently zoned R3.
All community members are invited to attend Rezmar's presentation.  The
meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the Abbey Pub, which is
located at the corner of Grace and Bernard at Elston Avenue.
